Bella the Blind Kitten

February 1, 2022

We can’t imagine how lost and alone little Bella felt when she was just a tiny kitten. She was only a month old and was visually impaired, and had to fend for herself. How she ever ended up in such a state, we’ll never know but thankfully, she was found by a good samaritan that welcomed Bella into her home.

Bella stayed for many months and was given lots of love and good care. Unfortunately, the condition with her eyes began to deteriorate. Bella has a congenital deformity in her eyes but her right eye developed a large mass on the cornea. Upon learning from the veterinarian that Bella would need an expensive surgery, this good person knew that Bella needed more help than she could provide, so Bella was taken to us at AHS/Popcorn Park.

Bella arrived right after Christmas and she was in overall good health except for her eyes, and was so friendly and playful, and she sure didn’t let her condition get her down! The mass on her right eye was just too large though, and Bella’s eye could not be saved. You would think after going through so much, that Bella’s spirits may be dampened a little, but that’s definitely not the case!

We’re happy to say that Bella made a complete recovery and although she is nearly blind now, that doesn’t stop her from being a happy, spunky, sassy little cat! Bella is about 10 months old and she’s already well-adapted to her condition and only asks that you approach her slowly. Once she gets to know you, she soaks up all the attention you’ll give her. She never stops purring and playing, and she’s even good with other cats, as long as they’re easy and gentle with her.

If you’re interested in adopting Bella, please contact us at 609-693-1900 or email: office@ahsppz.org for an application. If you can’t adopt, please donate to our ResQ Fund on behalf of Bella and the many others like her that come to AHS for help every day.
Thanks so much for your support!
