Stuck under some solar panels on a hot day, AHS Animal Control Officer helps rescue a family of raccoons.
When this little raccoon family attempted to go with environmentally-friendly housing, they found themselves stuck under some solar panels on a Barnegat resident’s roof one hot day! They’re a safe, happy, and cool bunch of raccoons once again, thanks to the efforts of our ACOs and so many from the community of Barnegat that jumped into action.
AHS Popcorn Park Animal Control Officers- Maria and Chris, responded to the call for help at a Barnegat residence this week when it was discovered that four juvenile raccoons became separated from their mother, and lodged under the solar panels on the roof.
Upon arrival, they got straight to work at assessing the situation and quickly discovered that the raccoons were becoming distressed due to the extreme heat. They called the Barnegat Fire Department for help, and as Maria climbed up on the roof and Chris climbed up on the van to block the raccoons from falling, the fire department assisted in pushing the raccoons out from their hiding spots.
With lots of teamwork, all four raccoons were brought down safely and quickly got their energy back! They took a minute to collect themselves, then trotted off to go about living their happy, raccoon lives. We’d like to thank all who assisted in this raccoon rescue! Great job by all, and keep up the good work!
