Foster & Humane Hero Amanda Provides Enrichment for AHS Dogs

July 20, 2023

Some people just go above and beyond, and you realize just how lucky you are to have them on the side of our animals!

Going above and beyond is something that this wonderful lady has been doing, and all of us at AHS Popcorn Park are so grateful to her.

Several month ago, Amanda and her family welcomed Buster into their lives.  Buster is a senior dog that spent so long in our care, after he was turned in back in May of 2021 with a multitude of medical issues.  Due to Buster’s age and special needs, it was quite difficult for us to find an adoptive home for him, but all he wanted was the love and comfort of a home and family of his own.  Amanda and family welcomed Buster, and all of his Buster-isms into their lives and by fostering Buster, it brought new life back into this old dog!  We can’t thank them enough for all that they are doing for Buster.

Amanda recently learned from staff member, Wendy, the need that we have for enrichment items for our shelter pets.  With so many animals to care for on a daily basis, it becomes difficult for us to do the “extras”, like making up enrichment items, which are so important to the health and well-being of our shelter pets.  Amanda offered to lend a hand, and she made up enough frozen bowls and stuffed Kongs for every single dog in our shelter!  Woo hoo!!  We are all so grateful, and our dogs are even more grateful, and would like to send out a HUGE thank you to Amanda for helping shelter pets in need.

We couldn’t do what we do without dedicated, compassionate, caring volunteers like Amanda and so many others like her.  Thank you!!
