Max Makes his way Inside for Winter

Tortoise Max Changes up is Digs for the Colder Months Ahead

The night time temps of 40 degree weather is coming real soon, so we got everything ready to bring Max into his winter quarters. As he heard the pickup truck and saw all the regulars who come out to help get him into and then out of his ride to the barn, Max started walking to his gate, knowing that it was that time of year again.

It takes a good 6 guys to get him into the bed of the pickup and settled in for the ride. It’s a short 3 minute trip and then it’s off the truck and placed down in the barn where he started walking straight to his winter digs, about a 75’ walk. He knows exactly where to go and of course he takes his time looking around to see what’s new. Once in his pen he went right over to his hay pile and started eating his lunch. We’ll start putting the fall grass seed down in his outdoor pen this week so it’s ready for him next spring.
