Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to cleaning kennels daily using proper kennel cleaning procedure and proper personal protective equipment to ensure that cleanliness and sanitation levels are maintained. Popcorn Park Animal Clinic Veterinarian

DESCRIPTION:

The Associated Humane Societies Lacey location is currently seeking one full time NJ licensed veterinarian. Our Low Cost Wellness Clinic is in search of a highly motivated indivudual to join our team. Working with AHS, you’ll have the freedom to provide your own brand of compassionate care. Idexx in house bloodwork and urinalysis, an ultrasound machine, dental machine, x-ray machine, and a surgical suite to allow you to enhance the quality of your practice.

AHS is looking for a strategic and enthusiastic Major Gifts Officer to develop and implement our Major Gifts Program. In this role, you’ll be responsible for managing a portfolio of existing major donors, cultivating and upgrading mid-level donors and identifying new prospects to support AHS’ annual and campaign fundraising goals. This role requires collaboration within the development team and across all program areas.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Personally manage a portfolio of major gift donors and prospective major gift donors to increase the amount of their financial support of AHS.
  • Conduct research on the giving potential of current donors and identify prospective new major and campaign donors.
  • Under the direction of the Director of Development, and in collaboration with other staff in accordance with the department’s development plan, devise, coordinate, and implement personalized short, intermediate, and long-term major donor cultivation, contact, and solicitation, strategies for prospective, and existing donors.
  • Craft effective proposals, reports, acknowledgements, campaign case for support and reports and other related communications.
  • Plan and execute various donor cultivation and stewardship activities throughout the region, including visits with individual donors, produce small gatherings and house parties, coordinate with other staff on development opportunities during other program activities, and events, such as inviting donors to attend a conference or community events.
  • Support senior staff or board members engaged in donor cultivation and solicitation in this region.
  • Maintain current and accurate records in donor database. Provide regular and consistent reports to Director of Development, CEO, and Board as needed.
  • Support the overall long-term financial strength of AHS by serving as the primary contact for planned giving inquiries from within the major gift portfolio.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in fundraising in a non-profit organization, campaign fundraising experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated strength in relationship management.
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate, solicit & close gifts.
  • Exceptional leadership skills, strategic judgment, and creative vision.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate, represent and discuss strategies with board members in the appropriate development areas needed for success.

Foundations & Corporate Relations Officer

TITLE:

Foundations & Corporate Relations Officer

DESCRIPTION:

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Foundation and Corporate Relations Officer (FCRO) will manage all aspects of AHS foundation and corporate program and is responsible for the development and maintenance of AHS grants and sponsorship program. The FCRO will work closely with the Director of Development, and other AHS staff and Board members as needed, to support fund development activities and meet fundraising goals.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain a portfolio of 75-100 mid-level corporate and foundation donors and prospects; build and maintain relationships with new and existing donors.
  • Manage all aspects of foundations writing for grants, letters of inquiry, and follow up reporting.
  • Responsible for securing AHS annual grant revenue target; maintain relationships and activities with existing grantors; develop annual plan and budget for grant revenues; and carry out the day-to-day operations of the program.
  • Research and identify prospective new grant makers.
  • Develop funding concepts and write proposals, applications and letters of inquiry.
  • Supervise receipt of grants, communications, and maintain relationships with all granting agencies and individuals.
  • Prepare all reporting necessary for grantors.
  • Prepare annual calendar to manage funding deadlines.
  • Liaise with Finance department to ensure tracking and fulfillment of grants.
  • Liaise with Program department colleagues to stay abreast of all programs, projects and initiatives and attend all program meetings to stay current on AHS work.
  • Work with the CEO, Director of Development, Program and other staff regarding the cultivation and maintenance of relationships with grant-making organizations.
  • Maintain donor records in donor database, including ongoing updates to donor and prospect constituent records, entering financial gift information, and prospect research and reporting.
  • Analyze data and create reports, as needed related to historical and current giving, donor strategy, and fundraising activity.
  • Other responsibilities related to securing grants that may arise.
  • Obtain and organize data necessary for proposal writing and reporting.
  • Track all necessary donor data, including contact reports, actions, and proposals in Donor Perfect database.
  • Assist in preparing solicitation materials, gift agreements, and presentation materials.
  • Provide support for AHS Leadership and Program staff in meeting and proposal preparation and follow-through.
  • Attend and support special donor-related events when necessary.
  • Develop strategies for donor stewardship.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Veterinary Technician

TITLE:

Veterinary Technician

DESCRIPTION:

Our Veterinary Technician Assistants work under the direction of a veterinarian to aid veterinary technicians in providing medical care to our shelter animals.  Including but not limited to intake screening protocols, surgery, behavior, husbandry, and overall wellbeing of our animals. This position is an invaluable part of medical department. We are looking for employees who will bring their passion and unique skills to the table. Previous experience working with animals in a veterinary or shelter setting is preferred but not required, we are happy to train the right candidate. Pay is $16 to $20/hr. with plenty of opportunity for advancement.  Full-time and Part-time positions available.

 

Under the direction of a veterinarian, assists the veterinary technicians in providing medical care to animals.  Including but not limited to intake screening protocols, surgery, behavior, husbandry, and overall wellbeing of our animals. Time distribution of duties: Medical care (60%) Operational and Administrative support (20%) Housekeeping and Maintenance (20%)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Communicates daily with the Shelter Veterinarian and Veterinary Technicians
  • Learn and understand basic medical terminology
  • Low stress, safe, and effective handling of animals entering the shelter

WHO WE NEED

AHS is looking for an energetic, enthusiastic and caring  part-time Veterinary Technician.  In this vital role, you’ll assist in keeping all our shelter residents healthy and assist in their journey to finding their new homes.  You’ll assist our veterinarian in administering treatments, keeping vital medical records up to date, observing our residents and assisting the entire team in maintaining a clean, healthy working environment.  You will also be at the forefront of helping homeless animals to be their healthiest and readiest to find their loving forever homes.  Healthy animals are imperative to AHS’ mission.  You will help save lives.

 

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO DO

 

Daily functions 

  • Administer medications to sick animals with empathy, care and compassion.
  • Observe other shelter animals for signs of illness. 
  • Perform intakes on new shelter animals with empathy, care & compassion
  • Assess medical requests from the office staff daily via Shelter Buddy Report.
  • Assist the veterinarian with surgeries and exams.
  • Aseptically prepare animals for surgery, monitor anesthesia, and recover surgical animals safely.
  • Update medical records with surgeries and treatments.
  • Prepare paperwork and medications to go home with adoptions.
  • Maintain clean and sterilized equipment for surgery, including surgical packs, gowns, towels, hand drapes.
  • Launder bedding and surgical clothes.
  • Thoroughly clean and disinfect the medical department, feed and water Medical Department animals.
  • Communicate, communicate, communicate any and all concerns related to our animals’ health, behavior and any other points you may have.
  • Work closely with the entire AHS for the best possible outcomes for our residents.

 

Weekly functions  

  • Ability to work with technology and update Shelter Buddy with sick animals.
  • Run a weekly report in Shelter Buddy of animals that need updated vet treatments; administer treatments and input in Shelter Buddy. 
  • Review Medical Request sheet from volunteers.
  • Review inventory: order items as needed.
  • Deep clean and restock Medical Department
  • Perform maintenance on IDEXX machine, ultrasonic cleaner, autoclave. 
  • Learn something new as a veterinary tech and share it with your team members.

WHAT YOU NEED

  • Certification as a veterinary technician is ideal.
  • Certification as a veterinary assistant is helpful.
