Popcorn Park Welcomes a New Lion

January 2, 2024

Help us welcome our newest addition to Popcorn Park – Kanu, the Lion!

Before joining our family, Kanu lived at a wonderful animal care facility in Pennsylvania. There, Kanu was surrounded by attentive care and love, thriving in an environment that catered to his needs. However, life took a turn when Kanu lost his mate. Recognizing his need for companionship and a change in environment, his previous caregivers made the thoughtful decision to relocate him to Popcorn Park where he could have the companionship of nearby lions, like Simba, and our other Big Cats.

Kanu arrived just before Christmas and made himself right at home!

Kanu arrived just before Christmas, on December 19, 2023 and settled in quickly. His transition to Popcorn Park has been a journey of adjustment and exploration. He is gradually familiarizing himself with his new surroundings, showing a keen interest in the other big cats, especially his neighbor Simba. We’re dedicated to making his integration as smooth and comfortable as possible, ensuring he feels safe and at home.

Kanu isn’t just any lion; he’s a character! Known for his friendly demeanor, he quickly forms strong bonds with his keepers and shows a curious interest in visitors. One of his most endearing quirks is carrying his paw in his mouth and hopping around his enclosure – a sight that brings smiles to everyone.

You can be a part of Kanu’s Journey

As Kanu adjusts to his new home, we invite you to be a part of his life through our Wildlife Club. Kanu is a lion with a lot of love to give and we are dedicated to providing him with the best care, including medical attention, a nutritious diet, enriching activities, and, most importantly, the love and companionship he deserves.

This month only (January 2024), anyone who sponsors Kanu for a year through our Wildlife Club Program will receive a free limited edition Kanu t-shirt! As a Wildlife Club sponsor you will receive periodic pictures and updates about Kanu’s life and unlimited visits to Popcorn Park for the duration of your sponsorship.

Your sponsorship will directly contribute to his daily care, medical needs, and overall well-being. By becoming a sponsor, you’re not just supporting Kanu; you’re becoming part of his extended family, a source of comfort and joy in his new chapter at Popcorn Park.

(Note: Free t-shirt offer is not valid for monthly sponsorships)
